Feature Requests

Please add support for mouse side buttons and global media keys, or allow full customization of keyboard and mouse shortcuts for playback control. This is a standard feature in many professional tools and would dramatically improve productivity and user experience in Descript. Currently, Descript does not recognize side buttons on high-end mice or dedicated media keys for basic playback functions like Play/Pause — even though these inputs work flawlessly in other professional software such as Premiere Pro, VLC, and even browsers like Chrome. This limits editing speed and accessibility for users who rely on programmable mice or hardware media controls as part of their daily workflow. As of now, Descript does not allow mapping of mouse or media keys to functions, and no workaround is available.

Can we please have a video library so I can completely replace Loom with Descript! The ease of Loom is the self-recording and the auto processing of the videos. But Loom is falling behind with API and Ai functionality. Currently I am recording my meetings and videos with Fathom, Loom and Zoom cloud recording which I then manually import into Descript. This is an overkill, but each of these systems holds a separate purpose. I would love it if Descript could replace at a minimum Loom, and also auto-import when the Zoom recording is complete. Then I could completely remove Fathom, and Zap the Ai Summary from Zoom into my meeting follow up email template. C'mon team! Lets make this easy! I'd happily pay double what I'm paying now if I could streamline post meeting followup functionality into one place.
