Feature Requests

In classic, we could easily and quickly scroll through the clips after a bulk “shorten word gaps” and just add transitions like a breeze. I don't know what's the reason of not including the clip inspector in the new version, but it's not a bright one. Bring it back, please.

Currently I use 1 video with 2 seperate audio sources. It would be nice to be able to zoom in on my face and on the other speakers face and have it switch between people when they are speaking automatically. Multicam is very complicated at the moment.

It would be great if hightlighted text could also appear highlighted on the timeline so it's easier to scroll and find in both places

Currently, it's only possible to select one clip at a time in the Layer Lane. If you've gotten into a state where there are a huge number of clips in the Layer Lane that you need to remove, being able to select multiple clips at one time would help streamline removing them (instead of deleting them individually).

Being able to select an actual camera as the 'cutaway' would be super helpful in projects that are a typical of an in-person 3 camera podcast, where the 3rd camera is a wide 2-shot. This could be added to the Camera setup settings where you select the Cutaway camera to be either "split screen" or a track like the other camera option selector. Thanks!

Allow user ability to select multiple elements in timeline at once with shift or cmd or drag

Please bring back the ability to apply a cross-blur transition from the timeline within a scene at an edit. This transition makes the edit smoother and less jarring. In previous versions of Descript (at least from early 2023 through 2024), I could add a cross-blur transition between clips in an edited scene. Requiring me to make it a new scene is another step that slows down this already tedious process.

Scene Edit Detection so Center Active Speaker Works on repurposing content

I find that I have to export my Descript files into Audition in order to smooth out the edits. Eg removing all the filler words is very helpful but creates abrupt, unnatural cuts that I then need to manually smooth over (by overlaying the tracks a little). The same applies to other edits. Failure to do this leaves the recording sounding unnatural and to my ears unusable.

When you are looking at something in the timeline, and the playhead is out of view, it can be difficult and cumbersome to find where the playhead is again. A keyboard shortcut to jump to the playhead in the timeline would be very helpful. In the attached screenshot you can see an example of where I am looking at the timeline, but the playhead is outside of the timeline, so I would need to go look for it to re-align the timeline and playhead.
