Telethon 2026

Since moving to Descript from other editing software, this is the biggest pain point that I am surprised is not addressed: If I copy something in the timeline (like an image) - or copy something from another descript project - I should be able to paste that thing into my project at the playhead location. Right now it (mostly - sometimes unpredictable) gets pasted at the start of a scene. Pasting at the playhead location in the timeline is a basic functionality that I got used to with tools like imovie and logic pro. Would love to have it in Descript.

Show social media safe zones on the canvas and in the export menu as overlays, so creators can avoid placing important visuals where platform UI (captions, profile pics, buttons) will cover them. Captured during Telethon 2026.

Sometimes it works right, but often it jumps around randomly.

This was my main navigating use! Please bring this back or at least let it be an option in the preferences! Having to press command - or + is so tedious and slow.

The chapter/marker list stays open until you click away or press Escape, so you can navigate and edit chapters without it closing unexpectedly.

This would be helpful in Descript for quick zooming to fine tune an edit. Likely the best target for the zoom is wherever the cursor is located on the timeline vs. where the playhead is located.

I would like Underlord to detach audio and edit audio in a sequence. For example, If you record face and screen at the same time, and both capture the same audio, you have to go into the sequence, detach audio (make sure they’re lined up first!), and delete the audio clip so you only have one single source for the transcript. Let's let Underlord do that!

Sometimes I just want to pay attention to the visuals. It would be nice to mute the audio of the video without turning down my system sound.

Make it possible to favorite certain audio. When I search for something, and I am not able to use it right away, I can't find it again unless I remember the exact search terms I used. There's no historical dropdown that shows me what I've searched for in the past, so it's kind of a guessing game unless I'm adamant about writing down what I searched for.

Let me set the transition setting once and then toggle to keep them the same for the rest of the Project/Composition. ex. I set Color Dip to .5s and a red Hex code once. Now all future uses of Color Dip keeps those settings. Same for Ken Burns - change default to Zoom In up and to the right. This would be killer with the new transitions coming.
