Paste at playhead! :)
Since moving to Descript from other editing software, this is the biggest pain point that I am surprised is not addressed: If I copy something in the timeline (like an image) - or copy something from another descript project - I should be able to paste that thing into my project at the playhead location. Right now it (mostly - sometimes unpredictable) gets pasted at the start of a scene. Pasting at the playhead location in the timeline is a basic functionality that I got used to with tools like imovie and logic pro. Would love to have it in Descript.

Auto-mute non speaking guests.
If there was a way to auto-mute hosts and guests when they aren't speaking, it would make the clarity of recordings much better and save a lot of editing time.

Little but important thing. When I zoom into the timeline, make the center of the zoom be where the time cursor is.
Sometimes it works right, but often it jumps around randomly.

Larger horizontal scroll bar
The scroll bar at the bottom of the screen, is so tiny and difficult to see, it's nearly impossible to scroll through the timeline horizontally. The Descript scroll bars are for some reason at least half, if not more, smaller than regular websites scroll bars.

Reduce steps needed to correct transcript errors
The number of steps needed to fix each transcript error is too high. Selecting words takes too long and is fiddly (not consistently selected with mouse clicks - has sticky behaviour patterns). Consider: - making transcription fixes inline rather than inside the current seperate modal dialog box. - Selecting an area of the timeline and allowing changes by typing there (I accept this probably requires a modal box). - Removing the 100 character limit on changes.

Apply effects (EQ/compression) based on speaker labels
Ported from Feature Requests | 10 votes Original post: https://descript.canny.io/feature-requests/p/undefined --- If you're working from a single track (i.e. all speakers in one flat file) it would be great to still be able to adjust the audio and tie it to the speaker labels. For example, if one speaker is sounding quite tinny, I could adjust their levels across the whole track by pinning that effect to the speaker label, so it would only affect their portions. I can't even begin to explain how much time this would save me!

Quick and easy volume dip on a cough, loud breath, background noise, 'yep' or 'uh-huh' from just one speaker
At the moment to dip an unwanted noise you have to click into the audio track for one speaker, put in four volume keyframes, and then dip the noise. Please make this a simple highlight and dip (with audio fade in/out), ideally from the timeline without dipping the main speaker or having to go into the audio track.
