Could add a marker to where you're stopping...

Steve Taylor: Plenty of us editors have to stop working on projects because we are interrupted by something else. I think the entire point of the feature request is to avoid the problem of having to remember to mark where you are or having to remember to do it when interrupted.
Many editors work like this by default now. I'm not sure why what is a fairly simple request (i.e. grab current timestamp of playhead and scrub to that spot on next startup) should take so long to consider from a software development perspective. Major quality of life improvement being left on the table!

Wow - that feature request came in 2019 and it's still not added in! The mind boggles that such as a simple request hasn't been implemented yet. It takes me at least 2-3 minutes to find out where I left off editing an interview when I go back into a project.

Stuart Lawn: It's a good idea, but it's not hard if you use markers or inline notes. How does anybody keep track of this stuff with Google Docs for example? I just put a little #todo tag in my documents. This way I can see all of my recent edits and not start a new one until I have all the todo's finished.

J D: All our streaming video services should totally pivot to this.

Yes, would be great if there was a little arrow / emoji off to the side that points to where you were last editing. Or the furthest into the document that you'd made an edit.

Andrew Keenan: This is a great idea!

One of my first thoughts when starting with Descript! Saved state should be same as when quit.

☝️This is important!

I work around this by putting a marker where I leave off. However this is time consuming (albeit not much) if I remember, and often I don't remember to do it.

AY-AY-Ron: Agreed. That's the method I use. #todo as a marker and it works great. Search on the main screen allows me to see how many documents I've opened and not completed. Perhaps what they need here is a "recent edit list" like Google Docs and to sort of combine that with a nicer preview of changes in the history view. If each history marker included a edit position, they could perhaps include a little preview with the edit so you can see the last paragraph?
