You all seem too focused on muddying the recording process with editing tools and are neglecting what many of us need--a simple quality audio and video recording platform for recording remote podcasts. I am paying more for Descript (my Squadcast account suggests I am paying $30 when I am actually paying $35) and my audio quality is meh. I am switching to Riverside.fm ($25/mo) where, despite its shortcomings (primarily how it schedules compared to Squadcast), I can quickly download separate tracks to edit in Davinci Resolve where I can use AutoCut ($15/mo) to edit in a fraction of the time with better control over audio. So, I am paying $5 more per month for less headaches and more time to enjoy my weekends. I waited patiently for Squadcast to be integrated into Descript, but that doesn't appear to be a priority. Sad. Surely not everyone wants to pay for AI.
