User Interace Needs Redesigned

Hi,
I know it always takes time to adapt to a new interface but the new one is highly unusable. It is not intuitve to use at all, and you have to look all over to find your files or compositions.
In Classic mode everything is on the left and easy to find and use.
Please redesign this ASAP to make it user friendly.
Thanks

I personally have felt so frustrated by the lack of a clearly visible left hand tab to skim a list of all folders and compositions inside folders. Bring it back please!! The "hover/ overlay" view that can be pinned on the editor, but can't go outside the window, so it's always covering up another part of the Descript window, is messy and irritating.

While I appreciate the aesthetics of the new interface, it was a complete shock to come back in and find everything completely different. I work for a software company and we use descript to edit our on-demand webinars. I had to jump on a call with our product team yesterday because the instructions I sent them were completely out of date and we had to spend 30 minutes trying to relearn how to use the system. The thing I dislike the most is the way you have to change between compositions via the navigation breadcrumbs up at the top. Today, I figured out you can use the quick actions menu as well, but I clicked that by accident. I hadn't checked previously because "quick actions" meant very little to me.

I don't feel this is a really helpful post for the developers and product team. I would suggest folks be specific about their feedback. If I created a video or podcast and asked for feedback and someone said "it's not intuitive at all and you have to look all over to find things" it doesn't give the product team much to work with. Putting "everything... on the left" isn't practical for a app that is still adding features.
Keep up the good work Descript. Keep to the core of your features, but do keep building for the masses. I've been a long time Premiere/Camtasia editor and I'm shifting over because Descript is doing some really good things to make creating content faster, more scalable and more interesting.
- I can edit so much faster with text for the explainer videos I'm creating.
- I'm working with a team of people and it's so much easier to share projects with Descript than with Camtasia
- You have some really great animations that are more aligned with the the Reels/TikTok/YouTube trends than what other video editors are able to provide out the box.
Staying with the trends I'm sure will be a challenge. I'm not sure how Canva creates such a template engine, but if you can duplicate that you'll have my subscription forever.
Best of luck!

Just leaving another comment... this issue is THAT important to me. Please keep supporting the classic project template! Raise your prices if you need to. It's THAT important to me.
Daniel Powell
100% yes please, please, please don't get rid of the classic template. Storyboard makes descript feel like it went from powerful desktop DAW... to an oddly designed moblie app. that should only be used on a tablet.

Absolutely! This is HONESTLY not a good new workflow. I don't understand how this was implemented..The playback lags, there's no longer "zoom in-out" with scroll wheel???, window panes are hidden and not easy to find, the filler words window doesn't stay open, the folders, compositions and files window pane is basically hidden and tedious to access (also won't stay open), the down and side arrows to open further options on all the window panes just seems so unnecessary and tedious..actually it is very tedious to keep having to click them to access further options. This interface is just not it..
I have clients losing their minds on how difficult and clunky this new interface is and I don't blame them. The old interface worked so well! Please revert it back! I get the new scene feature, but I feel it could still be implemented with the old interface.. and PLEASE bring back zoom in-out via scroll wheel! Having to press command - or + is truly frustrating..
This is supposed to be an "easy" solution to making content as you guys market this platform to be, and it really was until this new interface.
I really hope this get's heard from the developers.

Absolutely abysmal changes. You're correct.
Adam Burns
Absolutely agree. I hope it's just the awkward transition phase, but some of the UI changes are quite baffling.

Yeah, I just noticed the buttons for editing the audio waveform (range, blade etc) are hidden within a separate icon which means twice the number of clicks just to go from one tool to another. Not very user friendly.
Daniel Powell
Sally Le Page: Most of the redesign is baffaling, but this can be fixed using the hot keys :) (R - for range, B - for blade etc.)

Daniel Powell: For first-time users (or people who forget the shortcuts like me) having them hidden is sooo annoying
