Option to not upload original file to the cloud
Mike Smith
This was driving me and my household crazy. My solution is to use an app like NetLimiter for Windows or Bandwidth Limiter for Mac and limit this address -
descript-global-assets.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com

At least prioritize the optimized file in the upload - right now my original files upload before optimized, which means it takes that much longer before I can publish, apply studio sound, etc.

Please please please. This presents a consistent usability issue for me when working with video.

It is absurd that there is a) no way to upload directly from Dropbox instead of through the app, which is slow as hell (and doesn't allow uploads to be canceled) and b) no way to use proxies in some way. I'm ASTOUNDED that this has not been implemented yet and I agree with the commenter below -- if a competitor offered these features, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

This is so annoying and if I could find a Descript alternative without this issue, I would immediately switch.
Also, the uploads don't continue from where I was left, so every time I use Descript I have my upload bandwidth in full use as the uploads never complete.

This is essential for me. Please consider this request!

Pinging this again in hopes that it reaches dev team!

This is an excellent suggestion and should be the default behavior of the program. It's pretty insane the Descript is attempting to upload 30GB files to its servers. Can you imagine if you upload Multicam angles? The workaround for people using this is just to upload audio, and export as captions to edit elsewhere unfortunately

This could also help save time as we do not need to wait for the file to upload in order to start working on the project.

Please, please, PLEASE give us this option. My already slow internet connection gets absolutely saturated for no good reason. The transcription is already complete. This costs me time, and it costs Descript money. Do you guys really want to store my 10GB 4K video file for no reason?
Ben Eubanks
I have deleted a composition that is still uploading. It will be a while because it is 7GB. This would be wonderful to be able to deselect that file for upload or mark it as local only.

Think this should probably be a priority. It's a win-win for users and Descript. No need for the server traffic.
