New timeline changes are buggy, removing scene sidebar is a mistake
Alex Fischer
The new timeline editor is so buggy, it's constantly refreshing between the old and new format as I edit, and I don't even think I'm using labs for the new feature set.
Among the changes it keeps toggling back and forth, the removal of the scene sidebar seems like an out of touch mistake. I regularly rely on that timeline for easier navigation around my timeline (I'm regularly editing hour long videos) and utilize it often to implement edits across a video that only impact specific scenes. Removing it will actively make my work harder, more time consuming, and would ruin part of the appeal to use Descript's editor in the first place.

The prior version with scenes in the side bar, coupled with text editing is what made the app so easy. Now I feel like I'm back to what I was trying to get away from. I just spent the better part of 90 minutes trying to pull together several videos and the timeline is much more complex in my view. I started to get the idea, but as I moved scenes around, the app would cut off others or the like and it became too time consuming. Really liked the way this was before.

Disappeared scenes rail + /

Please bring back the old scenes rail and the / splits in the text. These were so intuitive. The new update you've made has spoiled the editing experience. Without a quick way to see both the different scenes and the timeline at the same time, my editing time has increased by 2x, which frankly makes me want to move away from this editor all together as the main advantage was how time-saving it was.
The in-text / were also really helpful visually to organise the script, such a shame that they are not substituted by those tiny thumbnails - what's the point in those? You cannot really see what's going on in them and they are less easy to spot than the /.
I am not sure which user feedback you've listened to before making these changes, but I can guarantee the editing experience has just plummeted. I am glad I didn't sign up for a yearly subscription, but I am really sorry I may have to look for a new editor once again after barely 2 months using Descript. Changing features all the time is really tiring for the users!

UGH!! Return Old Storyboard

Not allowing users to see the storyboard anymore on the left panel while viewing timeline on the bottom is terrible. Why did you update this? It makes me not want to even use the app anymore because why would I use a scene based editor if I now have to edit it like every other video editing application. How does this even make editing easier anymore? The whole reason I used this app is to make editing videos as easy as a powerpoint, and now I can't see the slides for scenes anymore!!!!
