Fancy Caption Line break control
Wynde Priddy
This is such an obvious flaw in captions. Titles, abbreviations, short sentences... all reasons users need this to function differently. FIX IT!!

Yes, hoping that THIS can be ESCALATED - 2 YEAR WAIT ?? - Someone at Descript - please recognize there is a HUGE application potential for ESL (English as a second language) learning materials where Descript could make a decisive difference. The research I did on my Master's degree confirmed that text and audio for ESL learners leads to greater comprehension. There is a huge market for this in the educational field. - Descript option >> create 'audio-text' package (similar to onscreen) and a must - ABILITY to modify line spacing - in other words typographic controls.
1) Line Break control (option for paragraph style)
2) Control over line-spacing (typographic control)

I actually just came to suggest the same thing. It's a tiny bit disheartening to see that it's been in queue for over 2 years.

It would be great to have the option to choose to fully turn off line break after a period.

A work around it so use the alternate period this: ․ instead of this: .
Descript doesn't see it as a period.
Still, I agree - more line break control is needed.

Daniel Walmsley: I've never heard of an alternate period. Without coming back here to copy+paste yours all the time (lol), how do you get that?
Dylan Schmidt
Joe Barnosky: It's called an "interpunct" or "middle dot." On a Mac, you can enter special characters using the Unicode input method.
Here are the steps to type an interpunct (․):
* Press Control + Command + Space together. This will open the Character Viewer.
* In the search box at the top of the Character Viewer, type "middle dot" or "interpunct".
* Click on the middle dot symbol (․) that appears in the search results to insert it into your text.

I'm having this same issue. We talk about doctors a lot where I work, and having the word Dr. be on a line by itself doesn't make sense when it is supposed to be used as a professional title.
While I definitely think adjustable line breaks need to be implemented, at the very least we need proper titles like Dr., Mr., Mrs., etc. added to the recognized words that don't cause a break after a period.
