Cancel/pause upload option

I love Descript. I love how fast you release new features and upgrades. I understand today that it must be very hard to prioritise features.
However, as you can understand from this thread for many other users - this is the ONLY lacking feature that causes me to look for another app. Respectfully PLEASE bump this up the priority list.
There are 2 reasons this lacking feature makes me want to throw Descript out of the window (and then I remind myself how great the rest of it is):
- I'm paying on transcription hours. If I accidentally add a file twice, there's no way I can stop this from happening. I've tried multiple times. Because I run 2 hour+ workshops multiple times a week this is a PROBLEM.
- I live in Australia and my fast 5G internet connection is data limited. If I accidentally upload a file twice this burns through my allowed data. If that happens (as it did this month) my entire internet connection gets put on a go slow and Descript (amongst other apps) becomes basically unusable. I run an online business. In a sense, the lack of this feature is making this month a nightmare for me.
Now obviously I need to take more care uploading files. It's not your fault I make this mistake. I definitely do it less than I did - but when I'm in a rush, or Descript seems not to have uploaded the file it happens.
Please fix this. Many thanks!

I definitely agree with all the comments. This is absolutely crazy that there is no way to cancel an upload. I thought it was just a me problem that it takes soooo long for videos to upload and download from descript, but I see that it's not. Please fix this ASAP!!

Hi there I need a way to stop uploads. Things often get stuck partway through and it slows everything down. Plus it's very frustrating when I accidentally upload the file and I have to sit there and wait until it's done before I can delete it and use the right one. Thanks!

How has this still not been fixed?!
I have subscribed to Descript for a whole year and paid the 12 months upfront to commit to learning it. Everything about it is great and the improvements are awesome. New features, etc.
But I cannot use it due to one deal-breaking feature (lack of)... the ability to cancel or turn off auto-upload of any files.
I want to edit and caption my podcasts here but I cannot upload 3 x 50gb raw files for different camera angles and wait for the 150gb of data to upload to a cloud I will never use.
My subscription is due to renew next month (October 2024) and I will be not renewing it.
Descript admin/managers please know that your app is fantastic but this minor thing has me going elsewhere until you have it fixed.

I accidentally dragged in two of the same file to a project (two very large ones). I realised my error straight away, and deleted one, but still they both continue to upload in the queue.
There is no way to remove one from the queue.
Seems a bit of a waste, and a pain as I cannot publish my project until they are bot finished!
Perhaps there should be de-duping too?

Gabe Michalski Thank you for considering this! I'd like to highlight that people have been consistently asking for this feature multiple times a month since the start of the year.

Gabe Michalski How is this issue STILL not fixed? It's unbelievably clunky, inefficient, and frustrating. Fixing it should be top priority.
