I hate to be the devils advocate here, but for some of you guys - why are you trashing things at all?

You can create folders & just sort them by date.

I do think a precaution like typing the word “delete” would make sense for the accidents…

But also still, why are people deleting files lol.

I worked at an art foundry a while back, and they were extremely paranoid about audits, and they kept everything for 5 years before getting rid of anything lol. Paper copies. I keep my digital files very similarly.

Except Descript doesn’t have a file limit (that I’ve found at least). So sort the things, but don’t get rid of them! (YouTube can delete all of your videos if they decide it’s in violation, I’ve seen it before with others in my niche.

YES!!!! This is so needed and it is the only reason we are considering moving to an alternative. Even if the trashbin held files for 48 hours then auto deleted like zoom does with recordings. Give you at least a bit of breathing room!

Has there been any update on this? A project was accidentally deleted today and it was a client interview - so really looks bad to have lost it! Most platforms have some recovery capability so I'm really surprised descript doesn't.

Hi is there any update? The trash/recovery option is a MUST. Please advise where you're up to with this and how soon we can expect to see it in action.

Trash function for limited time with recovery is very importent. It is unlikely that with the click of a button a project will be deleted without being able to be recovered.

A minimum viable product must include a trash function with recovery capability to avoid accidental deletions.
