Hey Descript team — I love the platform, but this new 300-word limit on Quick Design is a major step backward, especially for those of us editing long-form content with a ton of jump cuts.
I’m not a pro editor, and that’s the point. Descript makes editing feel doable. Quick Design used to be this amazing tool that let me polish an entire video in a couple clicks. Now I’m stuck breaking my script into pieces, applying styles bit by bit, and wasting time on something that used to take seconds.
For longer videos — interviews, podcasts, trainings — it adds real friction. The whole appeal of Descript is speed and accessibility. This change effects both.
I get if there are performance concerns, but give us the choice. Add a “Full Script Mode” for Quick Design. Put a warning on it. Just don’t take away one of the most helpful tools for people trying to move fast and stay focused on creating, not clicking.
Thanks.
Disclosure: I asked ChatGPT to help with some light editing but these are my sentiments
