Version 68 Release

Eye Contact (beta)
This new AI video effect keeps your gaze locked onto the camera no matter where you’re looking — at your script, screen, or slides. While in beta, this effect processes slowly and requires more time to complete for longer and higher-quality files.
This will be rolling out to everyone over the coming days
, and once you get access you will be able to find it under
Effects > Eye Contact
in your video layer's properties panel.
Replace selection
You can now replace any selection in the Script with a new recording. Whether you have text, an AI voice, or a past take, simply highlight it in your Script, then open the Recorder to replace the selection with a new take.
The length of the scenes will be adjusted intelligently to match the new pacing. We’ll do our best to manage changes in the script so your scene placement and B-roll remain in the right spot for simple editing later.
Edit Word Gaps from the Script
A new option in the context menu lets you change how long the word gaps are right from the Script. Right-click at any point in the Script to access the context menu.
You can choose from preset durations, enter a specific duration for the gap by pressing
Cmd-G
on macOS or
Ctrl-G
on Win, or quickly use the last gap duration by pressing
Cmd-Shift-G
on macOS or
Ctrl-Shift-G
on Win.
Start at… property
We have introduced a new feature for video layers (excluding the script track) that simplifies the process of adjusting the media's start time in your scene.
When you add a video to a scene, this new feature works like a slip tool, enabling you to quickly modify the video range for the scene in the properties panel with just one click-and-drag action.
Layer locking
It’s now easier to work with Green Screen or Chroma Keyed layers using layer locking. You can lock a layer from its context menu or by using
Option/Alt-L
. This locks the layer's position and scale, and also prevents it from getting in the way while selecting other layers in the canvas.
Updated shortcut modifier for playback speed changes
We’ve updated the modifier key from
Option/Alt
to
Shift
. This better matches conventions from NLEs like Premiere, and frees up
Option-L/Alt-L
for layer locking.
  • Shift-J
    - Decrease playback speed
  • Shift-K
    - Reset playback speed
  • Shift-L
    - Increase playback speed
Update layer order across scenes
When you change the layer order on a layer that spans multiple scenes, the layer order is now updated across all scenes. To do this, select the full layer from the timeline, and then update the layer order from the context menu.
Other tweaks & fixes
  • Studio Sound limits
: We’ve started to enforce the plan limits on the usage of Studio Sound we announced last year. Free accounts are limited to using Studio Sound on files that are 10 minutes long or less, while Creator accounts are limited to files that are 60 minutes long or less.
  • Layers in the timeline now stack from the bottom up.
  • Fixed a bug where we weren’t allowing you to adjust clip speed on Overdub text.
  • Fixed a bug where clicking on a comment on a share page wasn’t scrolling to it.
  • Fixed a bug with sliders that caused them to jump to the minimum value too easily while dragging.
  • Fixed a bug with being unable to update the duration of a scene that had been set to 0.
  • Fixed a bug with comments on the share page where clicking on a comment wasn’t auto-scrolling.
  • Fixed a bug with audio layers where the waveforms were too light.
  • Fixed a bug where we placed your keyboard focus in the name of the sequence when opening the sequence from within a composition.
  • Fixed a bug with Copy to Storyboard where it didn’t create the copy in the same folder as the original project.
  • Fixed a bug in the properties panel where numeric fields would update to intermediate values while typing or dragging. This should be especially helpful when adjusting audio levels, as it will prevent drastic jumps in volume while typing.
