STOP UPDATING

Hi there,
This software is extremely useful when its working but when it isn't it is one of the most frustrating and infuriating softwares I use and I edit in Adobe Premiere and use Apple AirDrop regularly. This currently competes.
One thing that would be incredibly helpful would be to NOT send a new update EVERY SINGLE DAY. I work for an organization where I have to have an admin password put in by our IT department and its really frustrating I can't get to work because I have a little descript "add helper" window that keeps popping up. It is also unhelpful when the software is redesigned regularly. Are you trying to keep your client base constantly confused and having to relearn where you moved different settings?
Please reconsider sending out updates, I don't know, once a month at least?
Thanks for your time, and love your work (when it works!)

why does add helper window always come up

Every couple minutes the window to add helper tool shows up. I am constantly typing in my password but the window still pops up?

Less frequent update prompting

Hello there. We have deployed several seats of Descript in an enterprise environment where users do not have software installation privileges. The nature of Descript to prompt a software update on nearly every launch is distracting and frankly a bit annoying. We get a lot of requests to our Help Desk to install updates which are likely minimally necessary. It would be great if users could select how frequently they wish to be prompted for software updates, with monthly and never as options. Frequent updates are a double edged sword. Thank you for updating Descript on a regular basis.

I don't care about your updates, stop interrupting my task
Antoni Bernard
Once again. I am REALLY annoyed with your constant notifications distracting me while I'm trying to analyze videos letting me know about yet another update. It's great that you are constantly updating the product. None of your daily updates are important enough to me that I'm willing to stop my task, restart Descript, and then continue. That's terrible UX. Find a less intrusive way to inform me that there's an update. There are plenty of other patterns out there. Use one.

Please for the love of god stop making updates 😭 the quality has gotten so much worse. I miss when it was simple.

At some point last year they announced during a webinar that they were moving towards fewer/less frequent updates - well, you sure couldn't prove that they're any less frequent by me. smh

This is really frustrating to me as well. I would like the option to ignore it and not be reminded again until the next time I open it.

I am having the same issue. It is very irritating at this point as it has now happened at least a hundred times and sometimes the pop up wrecks my work.

Designers need to read this and actually do something about. It makes the workspace cluttered and distracting. I agree.
